A poll was taken of Nilbog members after the 2023 regular season requesting their votes for the end of season awards. Below are the final results.
General Manager of the Year – twatkins10
Last year, twatkins took over a team that sucked and had gone 4-10 in 2021. He improved the record to 6-8. This year, he further improved the team to 11-3. Most importantly, he made the playoffs in a tough division while still coming out ahead on draft picks.
At the draft he took what appears to be a bust in Jonathan Mingo (1.09), a promising second rounder in Josh Downs (2.05), and one of the highest upside picks of the third round in Michael Wilson (3.10).
In Free Agency twatkins made major acquisitions like Sam Howell, Zach Moss, Rico Dowdle, and Jonnu Smith.
In trades, twatkins received the highest grade (A) in the 2023 trade compendium and was awarded Fleece of the Year.
When it came to setting lineups, twatkins did well earning a respectable 86% of the team’s maximum possible points.
This award is well earned. Congratulations to our 2023 General Manager of the Year, twatkins10.
Most Valuable Player – Justin Jefferson

This is Jefferson’s second straight MVP award, though it will come with some controversy similar to McCaffrey’s win in 2020. But consider that this is supposed to be the fantasy asset you would give the most for in a trade; and despite only playing four complete games this season – JJ was still incredible on the field. In the four full games he played (weeks 1-4) he averaged 23.2 PPG.
Player of the Year – Christian McCaffrey

2023 was Christian McCaffrey’s best season in four years. If there was any fear last year that his injury-ridden 2020/2021 seasons had diminished his playmaking ability, then he managed to put that to bed. This is McCaffrey’s 2nd Nilbog POTY award (2019) and is just as well deserved as his first. McCaffrey scored 25% more than the RB #2 and was the difference maker in several victories for TSteggs.
Rookie of the Year – Puka Nacua

Falling to the third round in the 2023 Nilbog draft, Puka Nacua wasn’t exactly the favorite to take over Cooper Kupp’s role on the Rams. But despite not having impressive athletic measurements coming into the draft, Nacua showed exceptional route running ability, hands, and determination on the NFL field. Finishing with one of the best rookie seasons since Ja’Marr Chase, it’s safe to say he’s silenced the doubters.
Over-Performer of the Year – Raheem Mostert

Raheem Mostert’s ADP in redraft was #114, RB #41. That’s pick 10.6 in a twelve team league. Despite having a decent year in 2022, most GMs expected Mostert’s efficiency to begin sinking due to his age. Instead, Mostert was clocked as the 6th fastest player in the NFL this season, which made him perfect for racking up TDs on the high speed Miami offense.
Comeback Player of the Year – Breece Hall

After tearing his ACL and meniscus in week 7 last year, Breece Hall returned at the start of the 2023 season in full form. Although the Jets tried to ease him into his return – giving him just 10.5 carries and 4 targets per game – Breece delivered over 1,000 all-purpose yards and five touchdowns with his trademark explosiveness.
Methodology and Full Results
Nilbog members were able to assigned ranked choice votes to their top three candidates in each award. Members were not required to cast the maximum of three votes for each category. Six members voted.
A first place vote is worth three points, a second place vote is worth two points, and a third place vote is worth one point. The candidate with the most points wins the award. 18 Points – the maximum possible – indicates a unanimous first place winner. All candidates who received at least one vote are listed below.
